Hi all,
I would just like to ask a few questions obviously in relation to the subject and a few general questions.
I have just written up my anecdotal record for a 5 year old who experimented with skeletal x-rays.
Long story short, she was cooperating with her peers and her educator and felt secure to ask for assistance. She asked questions about what goes where, and thereafter put them where she knew. She then decided she wanted to put all of the x-rays together and make up the human body. We analysed each bone and used our bodies as our model.
Then she pointed to my finger, then pulled out the x-rays focusing on fingers. We then discussed movement of fingers. She compared her finger to the x-ray while moving her fingers. Then we briefly discussed the same concept of the toes. We then sustained to putting the x-rays together to a total of the body. During the search for all body parts, I introduced the song ‘The Skeleton Dance’ which Chloe seemed to be interested in as she asked me to repeat the song numerous times.
I am a little bit stuck on how to analyse and put this into all developmental areas and include learning opportunities and developmental skills...
Would somebody be able to help me unravel this?
Q number 2. If anybody has done a photo observation and language transcript -
- Photo Observation I just wanted to confirm that the photo observations include a reflection/analysis, and future planning.
- Language transcript Can somebody please give me an example of a language transcript? We surprisingly haven't actually done one in class and I wouldn't have a clue how to perfect it...
Thank you so much for your time and help!
Catherine

Re: Analysing Observation On Skeletal System
How about you use the eylf outcomes to help you analyse the observation. For example:
The child initiates and contribute to play experiences emerging from their own ideas "she pointed to my finger, then pulled out the x-rays focusing on fingers" (4.1.5). You can choose the goals that the child has achieved from the observation and then add evidence to support this... If you require to use the developmental milestones then you need to go through each developmental area (cognitive, social, gross motor, language) and find which milestones the child has achieved through this observation as well.
The following will help:

Hope this helps,
