Hi all, This is my first ever post on here and i'm hoping someone may be able to help me with what to put in a Resume...
I became a Mum at a young age in 2000 and now have 4 children whom are 16,12,10,6 and I've done a fair amount of volunteering over the years including at the children's school canteen and also the kindy in a treasurer position and helping out with many fundraisers over the years, I also had a job in 2008 that I quit in 2009 after finding out I was pregnant with my now 6 year old.
I have spent a lot of time with Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Physiotherapists etc over the years also as my 10 yr old has an intellectual impairment and is on the Autism Spectrum as well as various physical limitations over the years, my 6 yr old also has OCD and Anxiety due to a rough start to life.
I have learnt so much and look at things in a different way to a lot of people, I like to look and think outside the box and I want to take everything I've learnt and help other young children to reach their fullest potential in the early years. I know that I want to work in childcare and eventually get my cert in disability so that I can support children who have delays and disabilities.
I currently have my Cert 3 in early childhood education and care and am working towards my Diploma but I am wanting to get into a centre to do some work placement again and was thinking that I may try to also get a job for a couple of days a week to get some more experience behind me but I don't really know what to put on a resume :-/
What do other mums normally put on their Resume?
Please HELP me
Thanks in advance

Re: Resume (Help needed please)
First off you must be extremely busy with all your 4 kids! I can hardly keep up with my 3 year old who keeps me on my toes!
If you have MS Word you can use a template from there itself... However if not basically your resume will have different headings and then under those headings you write information about yourself and your work experience. So at the top you have your name, your contact details, email etc. Then you could probably have the following:
Qualifications - you could mention you are currently studying Diploma and include the year you started e.g. 2014 - Present. You could also add any other qualifications (cert 3).
Work Experience - here you could add your previous job experiences starting from the most recent. Add your position, the name of the company the date you started and finished. You have had such a wide range of experiences and I really think that you should add these to your resume. So, for example you could add Speech Therapists (roughly how long you were there) and your responsibilities etc.
Skills and Interests - here you could mention any skills you have such as speaking, reading or writing in another language etc. This should only be brief and only put the ones that could benefit you for this position or that you are interested in working with children with additional needs etc.
In regards to writing a cover letter you should keep it brief and write exactly what you're after so when a director reads over it they know what you're looking for. Write an introduction of yourself and in your case you're looking for work placement to complete your Diploma qualification. You can also include that you are eager to learn, be a supportive member to the team and interesting in learning further through hands on experience (something like that anyway).
Hope this gives you an idea to get started,

Re: Resume (Help needed please)
I think you should add this or something similar to your cover letter... it really shows you're hardworking and determined and what you want to do in the future!Chloe2505 wrote:QR_BBPOST I have learnt so much and look at things in a different way to a lot of people, I like to look and think outside the box and I want to take everything I've learnt and help other young children to reach their fullest potential in the early years.
