Task 1 Transitions

Post by jpp1 » Sat Feb 09, 2013 12:37 pm

Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: CHCRF301E Work effectively with families to care for the child.
Your Assignment Type: Standard Question
Currently Working in Childcare? Yes
Your knowledge: Beginner

Your Question?
Your Question?
Orientation:
How often is parent/child asked to visit?

Write a detailed report for the above questions. Critically analyse your findings, for example:
Are there any strategies that could be put in place to make the process of enrolment and transition easier?
Does the process allow enough time for parent, child and educator to get to know each other?

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
1. How often is parent/child asked to visit?
While the good news is that most children settle into childcare without too much concern, there are some instances where little ones simply can't cope, and will have separation anxiety. (Longer time will be needed for these children). Each child’s response to care and the length of time they take to settle depends on the individual child and their past experiences.

• The length of time this takes will vary a great deal - it may be hours, it may be days or even longer. On successive days the duration will increase until the child is attending the full session.

• Parents are encouraged to help their child’s transition by taking the child to visit the Centre a few times prior to leaving them.
• These visits may only be for up to a half hour or hour at a time and at different periods of the Centre day.
• Both parents and child then receive an overall picture of the Centre day and have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and “absorb” the Centre environment together.
• This is also an ideal time to go over enrolment forms together – the Director will help parents to complete forms and utilize an Interpreter Service if necessary at this time.
• To ensure that orientation programs are tailored to meet individual family needs, services need to consider that
it may be necessary to provide a number of options
for new families and children, without compromising the service’s current program, children, families or staff.
Some suggestions include:
• Holding an orientation breakfast, lunch, morning or afternoon tea at the service for children and families
• Holding an orientation evening to introduce new families and staff

Description and Message:
I know the question is asking about time but really dont know what more to add any ideas would be great

Have you copied the above from somewhere? It just reads to textbook to me from the 1st sentence alone. I would re-write/word it in your own words.... you do know just copying something word for word is plagiarism? + copying something doesn't show any actual understanding of the question or topic.

Different centres may have different ideas about how often a child/parent is asked to visit. Generally its 1 or 2 times however in cases where children find it hard to adjust it can be much more. It has to be judged on a case to case basis in my opinion.
