Questions
A) what type of abuse could be accuring?
Answer:
with the evidence of burn marks I think the child is having a Physical Abuse.
B. What are your legal requirements with regards to this.
My legal requirements is to report this to CARL because Im in SA. But before reporting this I will make sure that I gather all the evidence to prove my claim. What I will do is to gather information and facts about my suspicion.I will record the name of the child, time and date I've noticed the suspected abused. I will take picture of the burns which I think is necessary to prove my claim. As I have a suspicion of abuse I will observe the child althrough out the day and compare the childs behaviour pattern previously, for the change of behaviour like for example a child who is at ease before recently show tantrums, fear of adult is an indication that abused is happening. After gathering all the evidences I will talk to my Director.
C) How will you support this child in your service?
I will support this child by nurturing her. I will give the child more active activities that will help her forget about the abuse, I will involve her in more of grouping activities so she can build trust with others and gain more strength.
