National Quality Framework (NQF)

Post by Cindy2007 » Wed Apr 27, 2016 10:55 am

a) Short answer questions
1. Briefly explain the components of the National Quality Framework (NQF), and state how each component influences an educator’s practice in an education and care setting.
this is what i have
a) National Quality Standard – The National Quality Standard is a schedule to the National Regulations. It gives services and families a better understanding of a quality service. This enables families to make informed decisions about the services providing education and care to their child. The National Quality Standard brings together seven key Quality Areas that are important to outcomes for children. These are:
- Educational program and practice
- Children’s health and safety
- Physical environment
- Staffing arrangements
- Relationships with children
- Collaborative partnerships with families and communities
- Leadership and service management
The National Quality Standard allows each service to adopt approaches that are most appropriate to the children being educated and cared for at that service.
 By allowing families to educate themselves with their local childhood education centres the national quality standard influences a childhood education service to strive to provide a better service of care and education to encourage families to trust them with the care and education of their children.
b) National Laws and Regulations – In each state and territory in Australia education and care services have to pass the legislation of the national laws that has been implemented. The purpose of the national law and regulation is to create a jointly governed uniform national approach to the regulation and quality assessment of education services.
 The national laws and regulations have been developed to help educators make decisions about operating an education and care service, and work to achieve the National Quality standard.
c) National Quality rating and assessment - Children's education and care services covered under the Education and Care Services National Law are assessed and rated against the NQS. The process reflects a uniform approach to assessment and reporting across the range of service settings. The relevant regulatory authority in each state and territory undertakes the assessment and rating process. It is also the point of contact for any questions services may have about the assessment and rating process. - See more at:
There are five rating levels within the national quality rating and assessment process:
• Excellent rating, awarded by ACECQA
• Exceeding National Quality Standard
• Meeting National Quality Standard
• Working Towards National Quality Standard
• Significant Improvement Required

 By assessing and rating an educator’s practice, this allows the educator to determine where they can improve their service. This also allows parents to be better informed about their local childhood education and care centre, so they know that their family will be well looked after and provided for.

d) Approved Learning Framework - Under the National Law and National Regulations, approved services are required to base their educational program on an approved learning framework. The program should focus on addressing the developmental needs, interests and experiences of each child, while taking into account the individual differences of each child.

The educational program should contribute to the following outcomes:

• children have a strong sense of identity
• children are connected with and contribute to their world
• children have a strong sense of well being
• children are confident and involved learners
• children are effective communicators
 An approved learning Framework would influence an early childhood service by, insuring that they stick to the curriculum, so that the children in the learning environment are being taught the necessary skills in accordance to their age and health states

i'm having a lot of trouble getting this right.. so i just want to know if i am on the right track now?

Yes, you're on the right track with your response!
The NQF has four key components:

a new national quality standard to provide clear and consistent standards in early childhood education and care services across Australia, including staffing ratios and workforce qualification requirements
a quality rating system to better inform parents about the quality of each early childhood education and care service
a new national regulatory approach to streamline licensing, regulation and quality assurance requirements, and reduce the administrative burden on service providers
a national Early Years Learning Framework to guide educators on delivering quality learning programs for children from birth to five years of age.
