Post by mjane » Sat Jul 11, 2015 10:43 pm

Hello,

I am currently a little stuck on the following, hoping someone maybe able to help me please

Children's Health and Safety Assessment Part B

1. You are required to demonstrate how to access the following in relevance to promoting and providing healthy food and drinks:
-The National Quality Framework
-The National Quality Standards
-The relevant approved learning framework

a) Under the NQS there are a number of standards that are relevant to promoting and providing healthy food and drinks in an Early Childhood Education and Care service. What are the main Standards that support this?

Standard 2.2 ??

b) How is the promoting and providing food and drinks related to the learning outcomes in the EYLF

--

c) Where can you access the "Get up and Grow" resources for promoting and providing healthy food and drinks

-Get up and Grow resources can be accessed online at http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/ ... -resources

d) Where can you access the "Australian Dietary Guidelines"

-The Australian Dietary Guidelines can be accessed online at http://www.eatforhealth.gov.au/guidelin ... guidelines

Thank you

Hi Lorina,

Thank you for your reply and help =)

Was just wanting to some advice please regarding if a) is correct regarding the standard

a) Under the NQS there are a number of standards that are relevant to promoting and providing healthy food and drinks in an Early Childhood Education and Care service. What are the main Standards that support this?

Standard 2.2

I have now answered question b), was hoping you could take a look please

b) How is the promoting and providing food and drinks related to the learning outcomes in the EYLF

In relation to the learning outcomes in the EYLF promoting and providing food and drink is as important as learning about nutrition as it's part of the core feature of the learning that occurs in a care setting. Good Nutrition enables children to actively participate in play so it is important that care settings provide experiences for children around eating healthy food and learning about food choices.

Thank you so much =)

Yes, I think your response is fine for b). I'd also just add an outcome that links it all together. For example:

3.2 Children take increasing responsibility for their own health and physical wellbeing

This is evident when children: show an increasing awareness of healthy lifestyles and good nutrition.

Hope this helps,
