Communicate About Children's Interests and Development

Post by Jadekay » Thu Aug 27, 2015 6:46 pm

Hi, I'm currently studying my cert 3 in childcare and am stuck for ideas on a question. The question is heavily prac based and we must interact with the families, in a culturally sensitive way - I'm doing the Culture cluster.

Questions:
4. Student will, under the guidance of their Supervisor collaboratively work with three (3) different families to support education and care.
Document how you are;
-communicating information respectfully about children’s interests and development in a culturally appropriate way
5. Student will, under the guidance of their Supervisor collaboratively work with three (3) different families to support education and care. Document how you are;
-assisting to plan and implement supportive environments for all children
6. Student will, under the guidance of their Supervisor collaboratively work with three (3) different families to support education and care. Document how you are;
-encouraging family participation in children’s experiences

I wanted to make this easier on me and put this into a survey type format. So I've compiled a list of general questions I can ask them to gain more knowledge to help me complete this question. So far I have -
* What is your cultural background? (Plain and simple)
* Is there any traditions or activities done at home that you would like the center to implement?
* If English isn't the main language spoken at home, is your first language something you'd like the centre to focus more on in daily routines?

But I'm stuck as to what else to ask to help assist me in answering this question to the full extent! :( Any help would be immensely appreciated!!
TIA :)

You can download the sample of the "Family Life - Parent Input" template which will give you some ideas of what other questions you could ask. The sample button is next to the green download button (on the left) and to view the sample you do not need to purchase the template.

Hope this will give you some ideas,
