Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: CHCPR303D Develop understanding of children’s interests and developmental needs
Your Assignment Type: Case Scenario
Currently Working in Childcare? No
Your knowledge: Beginner
Your Question?
Read the following anecdotal observation:
Sally aged 3, arrived in the morning and said hello to the educator, then ran over to the zoo animals. Sally sat at the zoo animals, moving the tiger up and down the floor making tiger noises. Sally then carried the tiger over to the indoor sandpit and giggled as she said “The sand feel’s funny.” The Educator asked sally, “Why does it feel funny Sally” Sally replied “It’s a little bit wet.”
You are to interpret this observation and link it to an outcome in the early years learning framework. Once you have justified why you have chosen that outcome you need to create an objective/goal for the child to achieve in a two week time frame. Don’t forget that your interpretation needs to be central the child’s interests, strengths and needs.
You will need to discuss at least three planned experiences you will set out for the child to help encourage them to achieve the objective/goal.
Your interpretation:
What learning outcome does it link too(at least 3 )? Ask yourself why you believe it relates to that outcome and discuss this.
What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
Your interpretation: sally feel safe and secure when she arrived in the morning.
i have difficulty with this question: What learning outcome does it link too(at least 3 )? Ask yourself why you believe it relates to that outcome and discuss this.

Re: CHCPR303D - Scenario: Sally - Interpret Observation & Link It To Outome
Hi tina
You are right in thinking Outcome 1, children feel safe secure and supported would be one outcome. Your justification for this could be that the child initiated interactions and conversations. A goal you could choose for the child could be to extend her play within the sandpit as she has indicated her enjoyment in there. Otherwise, providing different animals (other than zoo animals) for her dramatic play.
Another outcome this could be linked to is Outcome 3. children have a strong sense of wellbeing, under the goal 1. of children children take increasing responsibility for their health and wellbeing, sub outcome of explore and respond to their world using sensory capabilities. You could plan activities to set a goal of investigating other sensory experiences such as playdough, goop, water play etc.
Outcome 5 - children are effective communicators would be another one, you would be able to think of heaps of activities to extend her oral language.
Hope this helps.
