CHCCN303A - Scenario: Child Sleeping During Lunch

Post by nkenn12 » Sat Jun 15, 2013 3:40 pm

Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: Cluster 2: Care for Children CHCCN302A
Your Assignment Type: Case Scenario
Currently Working in Childcare? No
Your knowledge: Beginner

Your Question?
The scenario and questions are as follows:

A three year old child attends your service 5 days a week. On Monday and Tuesday the child appears to be easily upset and often falls asleep while lunch is being served at 12 noon.
a) Outline a number of appropriate stategies which may overcome this situation
b) Who would need to be consulted to reach a positive outcome in this situation?
c) How would this consultation process be managed?

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
I have my own ideas (changing the time the child has lunch to an earlier time, finding out if anything is happening at home etc), but I cannot find any information anywhere confirming I am on the right track. I have been unable to find any information to help me with this problem on the internet.

Description and Message:
Hi everyone ... hopefully someone can help me. I am really stuck on this question and am not sure where to find any information.

Thanks,

A) family events on these nights cld mean late nights, child spend the days before these with the other parent or person and there fore out of routine. They may be woken earlier on these day to come to centre.
B)I'd talk to my group leader and also the parent/caregiver
C) I am alil lost myself sorry :(

communication with parents
has child had late night? disturbed sleep etc?
what is the child's home routine
you would probably work with the parents and other staff to manage this
adopt the strategies... after 2 weeks ...have they worked? yes? no? if not then readdress the issues and see what other strategies can be put in place
