Hi guys, this is my first post, need help...coming up with very short answers because I am out of ideas! Need your input.

HARRY’S RASH
Harry (3 years) arrives at the service with red and swollen eyes and a runny nose. Harry’s mother, Beth, is a single parent with no close family support. Beth tells the carer that Harry has hay fever.
Jill, the carer, is aware that Harry suffers from hay fever, so does not bother to do a further health check. At lunch time Harry complains that he is hot. Jill takes a closer look at him and finds he has a fever and a rash on his chest and throat. He obviously has more than hay fever.
Jill telephones Beth to request her to collect him from the centre. Beth becomes very angry. She is in an important meeting and can’t get away for at least an hour. Jill restates that Harry must be collected from the centre as soon as possible to minimise the risk to other children and to ensure that Harry receives the level of care he requires. Beth says she will try to get a friend to collect Harry and fax through her consent. Beth’s parting words are that she can’t see what difference one hour would make anyway, as he has probably already infected the other children.
Q1.) What steps could Jill have taken to assesss Harry's condition?
- Monitor Harry's temperature hourly from first arrival
(can't think of anything else...)
Q2.) How should Jill care for Harry until he is collected?
- Keep Harry in a separate room from other children so he can rest quietly and avoid infecting other children.
- Use a wet towel to wipe Harry so to keep his temperature down.
- Make sure Harry drinks plenty of water so he doesn't become dehydrated.
(can't think of anything else...)

All ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Just thought I’d help you out with your questions…

Q1.) What steps could Jill have taken to assess Harry's condition?

1) Ask the parent if Harry has had any medication to reduce the hay fever.
2) Closely monitor Harry throughout the day.
3) Check Harry for any other symptoms.
4) Record Harry’s temperature.

Q2.) How should Jill care for Harry until he is collected?

1) Provide plenty of fluids.
2) Remove excess clothing.
3) Isolate away from others.
4) Offer an isolated area for Harry to rest.
5) If possible, get consent from parent to offer child panadol to reduce fever (this is only possible if centre has a policy for offering panadol to a child when fever is 38 degrees or over).

This is all I could think of too…
