February Calendar Of Events 2025

The following lists cultural, special, and community events that are taking place in February 2025. This should help you to plan and organise upcoming events and celebrations for February 2025.

1st February

  • i4GiveDay is a national day of forgiveness where you can find someone you can forgive or ask for forgiveness. Parents Daniel & Leila Abdallah have created i4give Day as a remembrance of the four angels that were tragically lost on the 1st of February 2020.
  • RedFEB: Honor those close to your heart. Raise money for life-saving research, raise awareness for heart disease, and help keep families together for longer. Getting involved is as simple as wearing red and donating.
  • Feel Good February - Feel Good February is an initiative encouraging people to initiate acts of kindness that can promote positive workplace relationships and enhance educator well-being. 

2nd February

  • World Wetland Day: It marks the anniversary of the signing of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention) in Ramsar, Iran, on 2 February 1971. Since 1997, World Wetlands Day has been used to raise public awareness of wetland values and benefits. 

4th February

  • World Cancer Day is an international awareness day to raise worldwide attention and inspire action for a cancer-free future.

5th February 

  • World Nutella Day: Nutella is a spread flavoured with hazelnut and cocoa. First introduced in Italy in 1964, the product is popular throughout the world.
  • World Read Aloud Day is a celebration of the power of reading aloud. It encourages families and educators around the world to read aloud.  The event is now celebrated by over 173 countries around the world. It was created by a non-profit organisation called LitWorld to bring people and communities together through the power of words

6th February

  • Waitangi Day (NZ): Celebrating the signing of the Waitangi Treaty in 1840 at the home of James Busby at Waitangi.
  • Safer Internet Day: This allows us to start the chat about online safety. 

9th February 

  • International Pizza Day is a day that celebrates this oven-baked flatbread food that is covered in sauce and cheese. It is a holiday where people can enjoy one of the most popular and iconic dishes in the world and kick back with a slice as they spend time with friends and family.
  • International Day Of The Dentist for dental professionals and to raise public awareness about oral health. The day was established to recognise the role of dentists in maintaining public health and to remind people of the importance of preventive care and dental hygiene.

9th - 15th February

  • Healthy Lunchbox Week is an initiative of Nutrition Australia that aims to inspire Australian families to create healthy and enjoyable lunchboxes.

11th February

  • International Day of Women and Girls in Science: The United Nations have proclaimed February 11 the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, aiming to ensure full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls.

12th February

  • International Darwin Day: Darwin Day celebrates the anniversary of the birth of the famous evolutionary scientist Charles Darwin.
  • Chinese Lantern Festival: The Lantern Festival, also called the Yuan Xiao Festival, is a holiday celebrated in China and other Asian countries that honours deceased ancestors on the 15th day of the first month (Yuan) of the lunar calendar. The Lantern Festival aims to promote reconciliation, peace, and forgiveness

13th February 

  • Anniversary of Apology: This event marks the anniversary of the apology to Australia’s Indigenous peoples in the House of Representatives on 13 February 2008 by former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, apologising for past laws, policies, and practices that have impacted Australia’s First Nations Peoples.

14th February

  • Valentine’s Day is the day when St. Valentine died in his jail confinement. Before his death, St. Valentine experienced publishing a letter to some girl whom he adored very much. He ended his letter together with his last wording, “From Your Valentine,” in addition to his signature.
  • Sweetheart Day: The primary aim is to raise much-needed awareness of congenital and childhood-acquired heart disease.
  • Library Lovers' Day: It is a day to honour libraries, librarians, bookworms, and library lovers in your life.
  • International Book Giving Day: This day is celebrated every year by giving away books that one enjoyed reading, which may benefit someone somewhere. One can donate some new or gently used books to the local library, to a local school, to a civic group, or to a local hospital.

17th February 

  • Random Acts Of Kindness Day: This is a day to practice kindness and pay it forward. Be kind to a stranger today.

20th February 

  • National Love Your Pet Day Whether cats, dogs, birds, or even tigers, our furry friends are showered with love and affection on this day!

21st February 

  • International Mother Language Day: This day celebrates and honours diversity in the world's languages and promotes cultural and linguistic diversity.

26th February 

  • Tell A Fairy Tale Day: It provides a perfect opportunity to read fairy tales to your kids and enjoy your favourite childhood tales yourself.

28th February 

  • Summer's Day: On this day each year, stop and remember all the children who lost their lives as a result of an unintentional injury, and acknowledge those children and families living with the consequences of a preventable injury.
