HLTWHS001 Participate in Workplace Health and Safety

Post by Jesspryor » Mon Jul 24, 2017 11:58 am

QUESTION: Use your home, classroom, care service or an approved care service in your local area to complete a hazard identification checklist similar to the following.
Hazard Identification Checklist

Type of Hazard (tick relevant hazard) Comment/action taken/person responsible
Lighting 

Household cleaning equipment 

Manual handling (for example, lifting loads) 

Ventilation 

Chemicals or medications 

Electrical equipment 

Power points 

Pets 

Bathroom equipment and supplies 

Floor coverings 

Child behavior (for example, behaviors of concern) 

Sorry im not sure as to what to put as the comment? and is there certain people responsible for each Hazard or is it the supervisor for all of them ? For the action taken do i just put what i would do to check that the thing isnt a hazard say for examplethe powerpoints, I checked to make sure they were all turned off and have there plug protectors on when not in use? thanks. and should they all be ticked for relevant hazards ?

Yes, so you will have to check each hazard and make sure that they are fine. So for the power points, you could say that they were all turned off and had their plug protectors on them/ all educators are responsible for making sure they are turned off when not in use etc.

Household Cleaning Equipment - stored away in a locked cupboard container etc.

Could it be such as - for power points children putting their fingers in power points if they did not have their protective covers which could lead to shock... Or in regards to household cleaning children could gain access to them which could cause poisoning if they were to swallow it etc.

I think it may be referring to this sorts of behaviour maybe...
