Whilst supervising outdoors you ask Sue Smith,kindy room Lead Educator, to come over and check on Mia (5yrs old).Mia had just beenrunning around the yard with a group of friends after morning tea.Sue says "Mia is havibg an asthma attack!Sue asks you to sit with Mia while she fethced her asthma care plan and medication.
Q: What instructions will you find on asthma care plan?
A:What medication to take everyday even when your feeling well
- How to tell if your asthma is getting worse
-what you should do if your symptoms are getting worse
-what to do if you have an asthma attack
Q: What strategies would you use to calm and reassure the other children.
A:try to model a calm behaviour first in front of children for they get upset or scared the more that they see the adult who is panicking also.
- reassures children by saying that everything is going to be alright.
-separate children from the seen and give them other activities that will make them forget about the situation.

Yes, you're on the right track with your response!
Asthma Care Plan
To calm and reassure the children you could:
- let them know what's happening
- reassure them that Mia is going to be alright
- tell them to go with another educator while you help Mia and you'll let them know once Mia is alright
- after Mia is fine, talk to the children about what happened, how they feel etc.
