CHCECE019 - Adjusting The QIP

Post by veronicanguyen » Tue Jul 14, 2015 10:48 pm

1. Identify what action you would take in each situation. Clarify if you would:
• Stop the QIP in this area and reconsider the goal or steps
• Adjust the QIP to address any new information
• Use discussion, clarification, professional development and training to continue the QIP.
Explain why you chose this option.
Provide details of how you would proceed; for example, what new goals would you make? How would you adjust the QIP? What type of discussion or training would you provide? Who might you seek assistance from?

Scenario 1: Part of a QIP relates to the children's menu. While working on the QIP, the dietician asks for staff to let her know their individual dietary needs.
My answer
I will adjust the QIP to address any new information.
I choose this option because the dietician asks for information about staff’s dietary needs. This requirement is new.
New goal of this QIP is the menu will meet individual dietary needs of all children and staff of the service. I would adjust the QIP by adding information about staff’s individual dietary needs to the menu plan. I would put a notice on the staff room and a form for staff to put down information about their individual needs with their signature. I might seek assistance from the dietician, the cook and the Director of the service.

Scenario 2: bathroom often presents safety hazards such as slippery floors. Educators are involved in developing a more appropriate routine/ timetable that meets everyone's needs. Next day, an educator is upset and does not understand how the procedure has changed.

My answer:

I will stop the QIP in this area and reconsider the goal or steps.
I choose this option because the QIP does not work effectively. The QIP is not achieving its goal. The Educator in this scenario is upset and does not understand cleaning procedure.

I would make new goals for the QIP. The new goals are the new routine/ timetable will be developed appropriately and all staff and educators are ensured to understand the new routine/ timetable and the cleaning procedures. I would use staff meetings to ask opinions of all staff and educators and use this information to adjust the QIP. The discussions would be about the appropriateness of the new routine, does it suit everyone, how to implement the cleaning procedure, what can be done to improve the effectiveness of the new routine and the procedure. I might seek assistance from Room Leaders, Room Leaders will receive appropriate training and they will shoe their team members how to do the new routine/ procedure correctly and they will supervise and observe their team members, make sure their team members are doing things correctly.

I am not so sure about all my answers, could you please help to correct me?

2. Three reasons why you may seek advice or clarification from ACECQA as the highest authority relating to the NQF?

I know one reason, it is because the NQF is created by ACECQA, they know everything about the NQF, they can provide us from general infromation to details.

Anyone knows about the other reasons?

Thanks so much ladies

For the first scenario I think you're on the right track. However, the menu should already meet all the dietary needs of the children so I think you should just add the staff's dietary needs in this scenario.

I think your response to the second scenario is good. I would also include a Risk Assessment of the slippery floors in the bathroom and also you may have to go through the centres safety policy as well.

In regards ACECQA:

Regulatory Authorities

Hope this helps,
