Please give me some advise. I'm 12 weeks pregnant for my second child and just got a call today from the council about the interview next week.
The job is for a casual assistant educator covering 3 centres.
I would like to tell them at the interview that I'm pregnant.
I know they can't reject me for the pregnancy but will it be a reason not to choose me?
My due date is 18 Jan so I'd like to work as close as possible which will be only for 5 months or so.
I really wanna gain my career as I'm so close to finish my diploma and I've got only 6months of experience as certificate 3 assistant educator.( the centre I worked for had closed recently )
I don't wanna stop now and this job is a great opportunity to me.
Please tell me what you think.
Thanks in advance.
I'm 12 weeks pregnant and have a council job interview next week.

First of all Congratulations!
I think it's important to let them know during the interview that you are pregnant. It's not about rejecting you because of your pregnancy it's about keeping you safe from harm.
Now that you are pregnant and wanting to work in childcare there are some risks involved. Lifting and carrying children, manual labour, risks of CMV (infectious disease). It will be hard for you to work in the babies and toddler room because those rooms are very hands on and more lifting and manual work is required. At the moment you feel fine but in a few months it's going to be hard and you will need to limit your tasks and duties while at work. I completely understand that you want to get your Diploma finished before your second one comes along but If possible try and get a position with the older age group (if possible).

Thanks Lorina for the advise.
I see my situation practical now.
Do you think I should tell them at very beginning of the interview?
How and when should I tell them by not giving them negative impression?
it would be great if you have any suggestions.
Sorry about too many questions but this is my first childcare job interview and I'm so needing some advises from experienced person like you.
thank you

Yes, I think you should definitely tell them! They have a right to know and you should be honest from the beginning. Don't think about it as giving them a negative impression, you're pregnant it is what it is! You can also let them know you intentions of how long you would like to work for, how you're excited to get this opportunity, that you're currently completing your Diploma etc.
It will be alright,

Hi Lorina,
I just wanted to let you know that the interview went really well following your advice even though I was soo worried about my pregnancy could be affected to the chance of getting this position.
I waited more than 2weeks for the results and today got told that I got the job.
Thanks again
