Hi Melissa,

With this scenario you got to try and think of out of the parents request what you can do...

The family requested the child to be given 2 bottles a day. We can meet that requirement however it's important to explain to the family that the diary intake within the menu includes milk at all mealtimes and does meet the daily dairy requirements per child.

They want their daughter to be carried around the room. LOL... think about it realistically speaking it is not possible for you to carry 1 particular child around all day! Go through the policy and procedures manual and find policies about child development, social interactions that you can refer too, to show that this isn't possible (for e.g. child needs to be involved in physical activity, participate in the program etc).

Does not play with water or paints. For this I think you should find out the benefits a child gains through playing with these experiences. You should discuss these points with the parents to show them that their child will gain from this. Maybe you can come up with an alternative such as the child changing clothes while playing etc.... Also go through the policy and read up on the programming one. You can add some points from there as well.

Sometimes scenarios can really throw off our thinking but after a push in the right direction, hopefully you should be able to understand it a little better.

Cheers :geek:,
