Educational Leader Role

Post by Stacey Louise » Tue Jul 21, 2015 1:35 pm

Hello,

I have been an Educational Leader at a service for over a year now. I am currently completing my University degree and would like to know more about the Educational Leader role as a whole. I have a nominated supervisor that tends to take on board things I would consider myself having to do as an Educational Leader and I don't feel like I can fulfill my role.

Where do I stand?
What are some ideas I can implement to show that I am also capable?

Thanks. :)

Welcome to Aussie Childcare Network!

Sometimes I feel that a centre may put an educator as an "Educational Leader" just for the sake of it and since it's compulsory to have an Educational Leader within the centre. Definitely speak up if you feel that you're not giving a chance to do your role.

Basically as an Educational Leader you need to guide and support other educators within the centre to implement a program and assist them to reflect on their practices, challenge their thinking in current practices etc.

Here is some information that may help:

Hope this helps,
