Creative interest area names

Post by Amylawrence » Thu Jan 01, 2015 5:12 pm

Hi all,
I want to make display signs to welcome the children into each area my room has to offer. I am trying to think of creative names for each area. In my room I have home corner, craft corner, block corner, learning area and a nature area permanently set up. Can anyone think of names for these areas to put on my signs? I think "welcome to block corner or welcome to home corner" sounds a little boring?
Thanks for your help!

Hi Amy!

Happy New Year!

I was just thinking that maybe instead of using the usual interest names in each of the areas you could call them as street names. You could even create street signs to post in each area and if you want to get even more creative you can make the poles with the street signs with the interest area name pointing in the direction (like on the street). So for example instead of "block area" you can use "construction highway", "craft corner" can become "craft lane", nature area can become "nature way" etc. On the floor, using contact paper or even masking tape you can create "roads" that the children walk on to get to the areas. Just an idea I thought I'd share...

I also have the following information on each interest area which you may find useful:

Hope this helps,
