Is there a rule stating that casuals are only allowed to work a maximum of 8 hours per day? Or is this as per centre?
Thanks!

Re: Casual hours
My casuals have to do a min 2 hours max none of my staff do more than 8.5 hours/day with a 1/2 hour lunch break (GLs get 1 hour) but none of my casuals are GLs
Re: Casual hours
As per the Children's Services Award a casual must do a minimum of 2 hours per shift. The rest of the hours is according to the centre and when they require you. At some of my past centres, some casual got 10 hour shifts.

Usually a lot of centres dont give long shifts to casuals. Thats because paying casuals are expensive from the centre's point of view so they try to cut down the hours used with casual workers.
If you are working 10 hour shift, wouldnt you get more hourly rate when go over 8 hours or something?

Hi catchmeifucan
Yes if we work over 9 hours we get paid permanent part time wages in stead of casual. Most my shifts are 10 hours but I do get some 9 and occasionally 8 hour shifts. It just depends who I am covering for.
