ensure the interaction with the student is respectful?

A student wants to talk to you about the difficulty they are having in understanding the novel the class is reading. You are really busy writing a report about another student’s progress that the classroom teacher has asked for. What should you do to ensure the interaction with the student is respectful?

- I would apologise to the student and explain that you are currently completing a task for the teacher that needs to be completed. I would then recommend the student to ask peers at his table to explain to get an understanding.

Then i would tell the student that i would be happy to take my lunch break to assist you with the novel and or find you in the playground and help guide you to get a better understanding of the novel.

Is this correct?
