Transitioning CHC50908 to CHC30113

Post by Macoola » Wed Aug 20, 2014 12:53 pm

Hi everyone,

I's sure I'm no the only one in this predicament but it is very frustrating. I am not too far off finishing my CHC50908 Diploma and now my collage is saying I may have to transition to CHC30113. At first I was like yeah fine and I wanted the updated certificate but now my college has sent my the transition form through and I have 10 more units to do and 9 gap assessments to complete (that is on top of the little I have left to do of the old course). I am so close to finishing CHC50908 I infuriates me to think I may have that much still to do. My college says if you haven't completed your CHC50908 by Sep 1st you must transition. It does state however that under certain circumstances like if you are close to finishing etc... you may get an extension. I wanted everyone's opinion. Is it better to ask to continue with CHC50908 because I am almost done? Or should I transition to CHC30113? Will employers prefer the updated qualification or don't they really care?

Thanks

Macoola

Hi Marcoola,
I am close to finishing my Diploma as well but my college has told me that I need to get it completed by the end of the year or I have to start all over again with the new Diploma. The centre I work at would rather I finish the one I am doing than start all over again. The college I am going through (I am doing mine externally) are not taking on any new students for the old Diploma. All new students are starting on the new Diploma.
If I were you, I would try for the extension as it would seem like such a monumental waste of your time and effort to have to start all over again.

Hi Muttley

Thanks for your reply, I am really nervous about the decision but I think you are right it seems ridiculous to almost start over when I am so clos to finishing.

Thanks Macoola
