Not getting my diploma after failed units

Post by Amelia Sarah Kim » Wed Dec 02, 2015 7:28 pm

I've failed some units during the time I was studying and where I'm studying graduation is coming to a close but because of failed units I was apparently getting a review and I was told that I would have to pay for the units that I've failed, what can I do to get my diploma as I do need to work and I need my diploma to be able to work in a childcare centre and I will need a job that will also be able to help me pay off my course but I'm also wondering is it worth to apply into uni cause i don't want to have to pay for another course and be in debt whilst paying off my previous course, any suggestions or help or advice

You can work in a child care as you complete your Diploma. It may have an implication to your pay and possibly the age group you are assigned it but that should not be worry. Possibly find out how you failed the units, ask if you could resubmit the task, some universities have that provision in which case they will remark it .

As Panga said, you can work in a centre even though you haven't completed your qualification. You will be "actively working towards" your qualification. As long as you meet the following requirements:
A person who meets all five requirements below may be counted as a diploma qualified educator. They must give the approved provider documentary evidence from their course provider that they meet requirements 2 to 5.

The requirements for actively working towards an approved qualification are:

being enrolled in a course for the qualification
having commenced the course
making satisfactory progress towards completion
meeting the requirements to maintain enrolment
holding an approved certificate III qualification OR having completed the approved certificate III units

Actively Working Towards

Unfortunately if you do fail units you will need to pay for them... However, I thought trainers only fail you if it's really necessary. I mean your trainer should have given you another chance to re submit your unit and give you a chance before you failed since it is really the last option. As for going to uni, it's going to be a lot more intense then the Diploma and you will have to do alot of in depth assignments and research. You can use the units you have completed towards the degree but since you failed some as well you won't get the full recommended time for the Diploma qualification on the degree (up to 2 years, depending what degree you do).

Maybe for the time being you can try and complete the units you failed, complete the Diploma and then work out whether you want to continue on to the degree...

How do you pay for them? Is there a place where you go to re-do it? Lol I'm sorry if I sound really silly, what exactly happens?

Talk to your current course provider. You should be able to re-do it through them... Were you given another chance to resubmit your assignments before you got a fail?

Amelia
I agree with Rowena's suggestion, try asking them if you can resubmit the tasks. It is worth a try.
