Work in partnership with families to provide care for children

Post by cola69 » Sun Jul 28, 2013 12:17 pm

Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: My name is Gina. My husband and I have 3 children. Our youngest son was born ten years after my daughter who is now 17, my oldest son is 21. Our 3.6 year old Aidan is autistic. This has been a great shock to the family-my husband is an architect and I am an engineer. We have always led very busy lives and our older children are successful, socially and academically. We struggle to cope with the needs of Aidan. His language is limited, he is hyper sensitive to noise and light and has very ritualistic behaviours. He rarely sleeps more than four hours each night.
Your Assignment Type: Case Scenario
Currently Working in Childcare? No
Your knowledge: Beginner

Your Question?
1. Aidan has been attending a special education program for children with autism five days per week. I am returning to work part time in 12 weeks and require care for three days per week.
How will you accommodate my child's needs?

2. What questions do you have for me?

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
So far I don't have the answer yet and I need desperate help with this. :(

Perhaps you need to post this in the parents section as it seems more of a personal question

Personally I think you need to talk to the centre he would be attending or you want him to attend and talk to them. Some centres may not want a child if their needs are too high as they may not be equipped to handle a child with certain problems.

If he is diagnosed they centres can apply for have an Inclusion Support Staff who would come in on the 3 days he would be there to help him and the other staff and children.

If I'm not mistaken, this is a case scenario for an assignment question?

Here is some info that may help:

http://www.fahcsia.gov.au/our-responsib ... ith-autism

http://www.earlychildhoodaustralia.org. ... tings.html

Questions that can be asked can relate to the severity of the child's autism, methods used at home, routines, likes, dislikes, interests, what special programs the child attends, information from the special programs etc.

Also can I have the module number so I can edit the topic heading...

Hi L.A,
I'm not sure if this is the module number CHCRF511A Work in partnership with families to provide appropriate care for children or this IC075. Thanks for your help. I greatly appreciated.
