Scenario: Allie - Breach of Regulations

Post by mememe » Fri Apr 19, 2013 6:13 pm

Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: Assesment2:task2 Workers rights and obligations
Your Assignment Type: Case Scenario
Currently Working in Childcare? No
Your knowledge: Basic Knowledge

Your Question?
Case scenario: Allie had a great long weekend, she had gone camping with a group of friends - they had bushwalked, abseiled and gone rock climbing. The only casualty had been Allie’s feet, she had got blistered from her new boots. Allie did not want to take the day off work so she arrived on Tuesday wearing open-toed sandals. Later that morning Allie dropped a tin of paint which landed on her foot and broke her toe.

What steps, according to your textbook, should the group leader follow regarding Allie’s deliberate breach? Refer to “The Business of Childcare‟, 2010

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
I cant get hold of this book “The Business of Childcare‟ and this is my last question for this assessment. I know for general incident reporting the process will be to attend to the injury, call the parents, document the incident etc. I think however this question requires an answer involving different procedures. I would appreciate some help. Thank you

Hi - the text book you are referring to is easily and readily available to purchase online and in bookstores in Australia. It is by Kearnes and is a really good resource. Maybe try the University Co-op bookshops , or just google it for more info. Best of luck!

Hi dulciean
I do know one can buy it online, unfortunately I don't have that kind of cash right now. I am in the queue at our local library, but that could take time. Thank you for your response.

I understand it can be difficult to complete assignments without the textbook!! It's very frustrating... I was just thinking maybe you you can refer to the Workplace Health and Safety Act for this specific question because the scenario is in breach of workplace safety. Have a look at the following information and see if you can find anything from here itself:

http://www.legislation.qld.gov.au/LEGIS ... kHSA11.pdf

Hope this helps,
