Creating A Children's Book

Post by Lilouk74 » Mon May 14, 2012 5:55 pm

Hi every one,

One of my assignment is to create my own children's book.
I need to write a story book for 2-3 years old.
Can you tell me if it is good and if it is age appropriate? thank you

"This is Lucas. Lucas is growing up. Lucas can put his shoes on his own. What can you do by yourself?
Lucas wears nappies. He likes when it is dry because it feels soft and comfortable.
But Lucas doesnt like when his nappy is full.
Lucas says "Daddy, nappy full!"
Daddy answers "Let's change your nappy" Lucas shakes his head and shows the toilet.
Daddy says "Great idea, Lucas, let's sit on the toilet."
Lucas smiles.
After a few minutes, Lucas stands up and says "Did a wee wee!"
Daddy says "Well done Lucas!" and gives Lucas a big hug.
And now can you try to sit on the toilet?"

Please be honest! Thank you

Lilouk

I like it, it's a bit cute :) Well done.

Only one thought, maybe when Lucas is talking (I know he's a toddler) but I would be writing "Daddy, my nappy is full!" and "I did a wee wee." then you are encouraging proper sentences. That is just me though. :)

I agree with Little Yellow. And I like the story too as it encourages children to use the toilet and feel good about it. I hope I get this in my upcoming books as I have already written a story based on conversations with some of my children. Its called "My teachers Home" and in it the children think the teacher lives at daycare, and think she sleeps on the roof (One of my girls used to say to me all the time that I sleep on the roof and she will make me hot chocolate lol). The children then imagine that the teacher must sleep on their beds when they go home and wonder who pats her to sleep.
