Post by taboomdeay » Thu Jul 19, 2012 4:31 pm

Hi. Im not too good at this - yet. I was wondering if this is right and what more could i add?

Date: 4.4.08
Setting: Playroom

Sienna came out of the bathroom waving her potty in the air and walked over to Pam. Pam asked her, “Sienna do you want to do a wee?”

“Wee wee”, said Sienna sitting down on the potty.

“How about taking off your undies first?” Sienna shook her head. Pam squatted down beside her and explained, “Sienna if you do a wee now your pants will get wet. Let me help you take them off.”

Sienna stood up and nodded. Pam helped her to remove her pants.

• Able to communicate both verbally and non-verbally.
• Recognition memory with remembering to use the potty to do potty wee wee.
• Pro-social behaviour by initiating interaction with Pam. Able to verbalise bodily needs.
• Ability to cope with change-suggestions by carers. Understands consequences when explained.
• Good thinking process and understanding.
• Muscles control of the potty with her hands. (not sure if one hand or two here).
• Able to walk over to Pam while waving the potty.

Date: 5.4.08
Setting: Bathroom

Sienna took a face washer from John and walked over to the basin. She pressed her nose against the mirror and began to giggle. She stepped back and pointed saying “Sienna funny”.

Sienna placed her hand on the tap handle and attempted to turn the tap on. Pam (caregiver) asked her if she wanted to help to turn on the tap. Sienna shook her head and pulled the tap with both hands. The tap handle did not move.

Pam went over to try to help her. Pam tried to explain to Sienna that she could help her to turn the tap on, but Sienna threw herself onto the floor and began screaming. She screamed for about 5 minutes.

• Hand-eye co-ordination with taking the face washer off John.
• Independent in getting ready to clean her face.
• Recognises self in the mirror.
• Has a sense of humour and can laugh at herself.
• Attempts tasks on her own.
• Doesn’t accept assistance and gets frustrated. Has crying episode when she doesn’t get the task completed.

Date: 8.4.08
Setting: Lunch

Sienna sat at the table for lunch. Pam gave her a spoon to eat with. Sienna looked across the table at Mia who was using a fork and said “Fork”.

Pam asked her if she wanted a fork. Sienna nodded her head. Pam gave the fork to Sienna and Sienna tried to stab the spaghetti with the fork. The food spilled on the table and floor.

Pam suggested Sienna use her spoon. Sienna put the fork down and began to pick the spaghetti up with her fingers.

• Able to communicate verbally and non-verbally to Pam.
• Able to make connections with other tools the other children are using and choose for herself that she would like to use a fork instead of a spoon.
• Attempts new tasks confidently.
• Doesn’t accept suggestions from Pam and uses fingers instead to eat the spaghetti.
• Has a good connection with Pam.
• Able to initiate interaction with Pam.
