CHCECE001 - Gaining Knowledge On Aboriginal Communities

Post by Courtney » Sun Mar 01, 2015 7:49 pm

The question that I am trying to answer but I am stuck on is:
What knowledge is important to have about the history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people? How can gaining this knowledge influences organisational policies, procedures and guidelines?

The answer I have put for the first part of the question is: The knowledge to possess about the history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are, the effect of colonisation, the Stolen Generation, Migration, Spiritual oppression, Indigenous child protection issues and their customs and celebrations which is part of their history.

I think I am on the right path, but am stuck on the second part of the question, HOW CAN GAINING THIS KNOWLEDGE INFLUENCES ORGANISATIONAL POLICIES, PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES.
Can I get some examples as to how the knowledge influences policies, procedures and guideline please.

Sorry about the link... try this:

Working and Walking Together

Once you know the history of ATSI people and their customs and traditions you can begin to develop policies such as anti bias policy, inclusion policy, diversity policy etc.

Hope this helps!
