Your Question?
I need to plan activities for a 3yr 9month girl with asperger's syndrome to acquaint her with the new centre. The only information i was given in the study was that the parents said she has significant difficulties in social interactions and restricted and repetitive patterns of behaviour and interests. I have researched asperger's understand their obssessive nature, their lack of social interaction and their love for routines and rules, but i am just not sure how to apply it to activities in this case.
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Re: Activities for children with asperger's
hi pink fox.
Get online and google, activities to make aspergers children inclusive in group activities.
Using visual aids is a fantastic way to inititate any activity and it lets the child now whats about to happen next.

Hi Pink Fox.
I would add to the above, find out from the parents the child's interests. If they really like Dora the Explorer for instance, maybe provide painting/colouring activities or books etc that relate to Dora. This will help the child settle as there is something that is familiar to them.
Hope this helps

Re: Activities for children with asperger's
I would make a social story using pictures of the physical space that the child will be in as well as of staff and important spots like where to put a bag or go to the bathroom. There are loads of great ideas on Sue Larkey's website that might help.

Thanks very much for your help, sometimes the case studies in the book can be frustrating with the limited information they give you to work with!!
