Trainee Wages From 2013 - 2016

Post by emmarose » Fri Jan 08, 2016 10:03 pm

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question! i have been a trainee for 2years and 3 months now due to my terrible RTO. I would like to know how much i should of been getting paid from the day i started to the day i finished my traineeship. Which was today!!! IM SO HAPPY!!! (08.10.13 - 08.01.16). Can anybody help me out? also can anyone tell me how much i should be getting paid now as a qualified cert 3? when i first started i was $7.36. Is that even legal????? I am $10.28 now.

Thank you in advance!!

Congrats! Great feeling isn't it to finally have it completed!

Just a quick question regarding your pay rate... if you don't mind me asking how old were you when you started your traineeship? 18 years or younger, 19 years + etc. And how far did you finish school? Did you finish yr 12 and how far out of school were you?

Just because the wages for trainees depend on your age and when you finished schooling... then I can determine how much you pay should be from when you started until now...

Hi Emma,

So, I having alot of trouble finding previous trainee pay rates from 2013 so I have contacted Fair Work Australia to see if they can give me a copy of the previous awards. For now I can tell you that as of 01 July 2015, your trainee pay rate is $450.60 per week/full time(before tax - +2 Years out of school - Yr 11) . Now that you are a qualified cert 3, you would be a Level 3.1 (on commencement) and your minimum hourly wage should be $20.13/full time. It sounds like you are still getting your traineeship wage but hopefully your wage will increase since you are now qualified!

I'll let you know once I receive the previous award...

Hope this helps,

Hi Emma,

Hope all is going well! By now you would have got your cert 3 qualification and I hope you have spoken to your centre about increasing your pay. In regards to your pay from previous years I contacted Fair Work Australia and they gave me the following link, which can help you identify your pay rate before 2014.

Pay Check Plus

Hope this helps,
