Diploma traineeship question??

Post by shmollie_hollie » Tue Feb 21, 2012 9:50 pm

I was just wondering if you do your diploma as a traineeship does you pay rate go down? I know when you do a cert III traineeship they can pay you about 10 bucks an hour which is awful, but ive heard mixed answers about whether it goes down when you do a diploma traineeship. Any pesonal input will be appreciated :) thanks!

Hi Shmollie,

Have you completed your cert 3 yet? I'm not too sure if I'm correct in saying this but if you have completed your cert 3 then decide to do a diploma traineeship I think your wage should be that of a cert 3 qualification until you complete your diploma qualification. The whole wage issue in childcare is so confusing and totally ridiculous!!

Sorry... I've probably been no help at all...

Cheers :geek:,

Pretty sure no one pays silly amounts like $10/hr anymore. My cert 3 trainee wage was $16 sometimes so not too bad really. Im now a diploma trainee and my pay is the same (gone to about $18 I think) until I pass.

if you are an existing worker they can not put your pay rate down by law. if however you arent and existing worker they can put you on the wage according the award they go by. Ask what award you are on and look it up online, it will tell you what you should be getting paid.
