Is a trial different from Volunteering?

Post by Danielle » Mon Mar 26, 2012 6:09 pm

I did volunteering for one center and was asked if I would like to go again
but felt that child care wasn't for me (Bad move on my part)
I regretted it and wanted to try again with a different centre
and got a call inviting me for a trial and didn't mention an interview.

How different will this be from volunteering if there is any?
How can I make a good impression? (ie should I bring something with me, a book?)

Hi Danielle,

Trials are fairly common especially in Childcare. There is only so much a resume can say about someone but in the end it all comes down to how you interact and engage with children. This is why most centres have trials.. Just be yourself, interact with the children, help out where you can... You could bring a book to read during group time if you wanted to but spend this time getting to know the children and staff to see if it's the right centre for you!

Cheers :geek:,

Just interact as much as you can with the kids and ask staff questions, you can get a lot from asking questions and sense if they are happy working there etc.

I had a chance to do volunteering in a center near Beverly Hills, but the director didn't ask me to stay or not, I just went there for a week. I don't know anything about Traineeship at that time. If I can stay a bit longer, that might be a different story......
