Can a Diploma trained work as a Cert III?

Post by lovelymavis » Tue May 14, 2013 7:33 pm

Hi, I completed my Cert III last year and am doing my Diploma this year. I was wondering if it is possible to work as a Cert II trained even though I have the Diploma? Just in case I want to start off getting some experience at that level before moving up and having the responsibilities of the Diploma trained employee. Any advice appreciated, thanks?

Hi lovelymavis,
Id say yes, as long as the position you are applying for isn't a traineeship.
It also would depend on when you're going to be completing your diploma.
Because, if you are qualified fully, they obviously have to pay you more.
Sometimes if you are currently studying diploma and apply for a cert III job, you could stand out from the other applicants.
Im not sure though, my advice would be to go for it, and add in to your cover letter that you are studying etc.
Good luck honey :)
