Writing An Anecdotal Observation

Hi Lorina
Would you be so kind to let me know, please at observing a focus child 1 who has interest at playing with the legos and putting them together what I would need to write in an anecdotal observation?
I know an anecdotal observation is in the past tense. Would be alright to write he uses hands and eye co-ordination or would be alright to write he uses his fine motor skills.
