Hi everyone, I'm Jo, first time asking a question but have been browsing this website for a while. Enjoying reading the forum and looking up information. I have been working in the toddler room at my centre now for almost 2 years as well as studying my Cert III. I'm finally up to my work placement booklet (literally been a long time coming) and as part of my work placement, I have to write a journal. One of the question is What resources did you find most useful during the day? I have mixed opinions on what is meant by resources. So I ask my work colleague and she says resources like using scissors and cleaning products. I got back one of my assignments, and my teacher told me to resubmit one of the questions, and It had to do with resources and she says resources mean toys and equipment. So is my work colleague still right or do I have to go by what my teacher says, what a resource is.

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
In my journal reflection, I wrote the most useful resource today was using gumption. We did texas drawing, and instead of drawing on the paper we provided, they decided to draw on the table. Using disinfectant spray, doesn't quite get the texas off the table, but with gumption, it eliminates the texas immediately.

I don't know if that's what they meant by a useful resource. So if anyone out could give me an example of a resource, I will be much appreciated. Thanks Jo

Hi Jo,
Re resources: I think other examples of resources could be things like: the program, observation/portfolio templates, the EYLF Educators guide, the regulations, the guide to the NQS book and any other resource books you may have used during the day. Also the internet, websites, if you googled activities, or used the internet to look up information for example.
I hope this gives you some more ideas, good luck with your studies..

Also, other resources could include the centres' philosophy or policies and procedures..

Hi again, if you have set up an activity or an area in the room, you could include the resources you used. For example: if you set up the home cnr the resources would be dolls, dolls bed, blankets, oven, plates, cups etc.
if you have written a learning story during the day, your resources would be a camera, computer, photocopier.
