Scenario: Using Bleach To Clean Children's Tables

Post by seep » Wed Sep 23, 2015 2:16 pm

Q-A colleague is in the store room pouring bleach into a unlabelled spray bottle and is planning to use it to clean the children's tables

what you would say

I can see that you are planning to use bleach in a way that is not safe for kids, isn't it better if you wait till all the kids go to home and then use it to protect them from the after effects of bleach

Additional information you could provide

A splash of bleach can kill germs but it may also cause health problems in children Perhaps compounds in the bleach become volatile or airborne during cleaning, they said. If children breathe in these compounds, it might damage the lining of their lungs, leading to inflammation and making them more susceptible to infection, the researchers suggested.it does indeed kill germs, the chemical could leave children more susceptible to catching flu, tonsillitis or other infections, a study suggests. passive exposure to bleach was associated with a 20 per cent increase in the risk of flu in the previous year. It was also linked with a 35 per cent rise in the risk of recurrent tonsillitis. Or bleach may somehow suppress the immune system,

please suggest is my response appropriate?

The bottle needs to be labelled with the contents inside and also needs to diluted with water if it's going to be used to clean the tables.
