Post by soko » Tue Jun 07, 2016 1:35 pm

hey gyus i need a help in this questions
please im stuck
4. A parent tells you not give her 13- month -old any milk, only juice. She feels the child has enough milk at home. At sleep- time, the child will not settle down to sleep and constantly asks for milk. Ten minutes later, you find a co-worker has given the child a bottle of milk. When you explain the mother’s wishes, she responds, ‘’ I think the mother is being cruel just - don’t mention it’’.

c) What part/s of the code of ethics does this relate to?
d) Who do you need to report information to?

In regards to Code Of Ethics: Code Of Ethics

In regards of reporting the director and the mother both need to be informed of the incident since the mother specifically mentioned that she didn't want milk to be given to her child.

When discussing this with the mother, should we discuss how milk can supplement a child's diet and nutrition, and the mother's reason for the choice - suspected intolerance etc? Or is this more a case of just respecting the mothers wishes?

You could first find out the mothers reason for the choice and then if it seems reasonable then respect the mothers wishes...
