Scenario: Educator Ignoring Child Who Didn't Speak English

Post by tahliarosee » Sat Mar 25, 2017 3:19 pm

Hello! I have just started my cert 3 in childrens services , I have come across a question that I have become stuck on and not too sure , below is my attempted answer ! Help would be greatly appreciated

QUESTION "The Australian Early Childhood Code of Ethics, states that ‘In relation to children 1.10: we should work to ensure children are not discriminated against on the basis of gender, age, ability, economic status, family structure, lifestyle, ethnicity, religion, language, culture, or national origin’. Explain what would happen to an educator if they ignored a child because they couldn’t speak English"
ANSWER "If an educator was to repeatedly ignore a child because they couldn't speak english , they would be spoken to by a supervisor which could lead to a warning or interview with the centre director , this could then lead to dismissal or the supervisor may choose to provide the educator with anti-discrimination training , and all staff reminded of the importance of anti-discrimination as started in the centre's policies"
