Lontudinal Study

Post by LucyCorfield » Thu Aug 11, 2016 4:58 am

Hi,
I am currently studying CACHE Level 3 Childcare within the workplace and have almost come to the end. My final assignment is a longnitudinal study which requires me to do the following:

Overview of the Longitudinal Study Requirements
The section below gives you a brief overview of what is required for the Longitudinal Study aspect of your qualification. It may look a little complex at first but don’t worry, we will explain each section in more detail as we go through the tasks set for you:
Complete two (2) Longitudinal Studies on two (2) individual children in a real work environment. For each child observe, assess and plan across one area of development. The following criteria must be met in full:

Task 1
Select one (1) age range for each Longitudinal Study. The age range selected must be different for each Longitudinal Study:
• 0 - 1 year 11 months • 2 - 2 years 11 months • 3 - 5 years
Select one (1) area of development for each Longitudinal Study. The area of development selected must be different for each Longitudinal Study:
• cognitive • physical • speech, language and communication • personal, social and emotional
The observation, assessment and planning cycle should be followed when completing each observation.

Tasks 2 & 3
Undertake a minimum of four (4) observations, assessment and planning cycles for each Longitudinal Study over a six (6) week period.
Use a minimum of two (2) different observation methods for each Longitudinal Study, four (4) methods in total, which have been learned about in Unit 3.14 and include:
• Event Sample • Time Sample • Sociogram • Narrative / Free Description • Target Child • Checklist • Child Tracker / Movement Record

Has anyone ever done this before? If so, I would greatly appreciate some help with planning these assessment cycles.

Thanks in advance, Lucy

So basically you need to observe 2 children of different ages, choose an area of development for each child, use 2 different observation methods for each child and complete the observation...
