Help Please : Linking Jelly Making with EYLF

Post by BecFranks » Fri May 09, 2014 1:51 pm

Your Assignment Module Number and Heading: Placement Assessment
Your Assignment Type: Other
Currently Working in Childcare? No
Your knowledge: Basic Knowledge

Your Question?
Hi All, I'm looking for suggestions regarding how I can link making Jelly to the EYLF for children aged 3+.

What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
I observed a few children playing in the outdoor kitchen using water on the 'stove' and commenting that it was hot and they were making pasta.

I now have to take this observation and create an experience with the children. So I thought making Jelly would be a good one. However I'm struggling a bit to connect it to the EYLF.

Use the following article (in our Wiki, in Childcare Programming) to find which Learning Outcome suits your experience best...

How Children Can Achieve Learning Outcomes

Also when linking outcomes to experiences there isn't really a right a wrong way of doing it. It really depends on what you want the child to achieve when completing the experience. Learning outcomes are considered as goals. So, have a read through the outcomes and see which goal you want the children to achieve during their play.

Hope this helps,

Hi Bec,
I was thinking...could you make pasta with the children because this is what they were doing when you observed them?
