For each of the educator support strategies, list an example.
Educator Support Strategies:
• Acknowledgement and Praise
- Definition: Educators praise children to acknowledge that we value and appreciate the efforts/work and/or their behaviour.
• Social and Concrete Rewards
- Definition: Educators use social and concrete rewards to acknowledge and reward children's efforts/work and/or their behaviour.
• Encouragement
- Definition: Educators encourage children to prompt the learning and development this self esteem, confidence, resilience and persistence.
• Scaffolding
Definition: Educators work along side with children to help and guide them to complete a task/or to extend their knowledge, interests of all skills.
• Redirection
Definition: Educators redirecting the child's attention away from the unwanted activity/behaviour to an acceptable activity/behaviour.
•Intervention
Definition: Educators stepping in to avoid an anticipated negative outcome, before it occurs.
• Logical Consequences
Definition: Educators apply a logical consequence to help the children to develop self-discipline and to think about the effects of their behaviour
• Conflict Resolution
Definition: Educators teach children conflict resolution strategies so children learn the language and skills to effectively, and then independently resolve conflict.
Now I have to provide an example of the educator support strategy for each of these.
I have only done 2 of these.. And I need help for the rest of them.
I did:
Acknowledgement and Praise:
- give them undivided attention while they explain their work.
- show verbal and non-verbal interest.
- do not put you own assumptions on their work.
- offer praise but ensure that it is specific and genuine.
And for Encouragement:
- focus and comment on the child's strengths instead of weakness.
That's all I could do.. And I am not sure if it's even correct or not. Please help and correct me guys.
