develop understanding of childrens interests and developmental needs

Post by Neshkah » Wed Jul 04, 2012 2:31 pm

Hi guys. just need help with a few questions on my assignment

develop understanding of children's interests and developmental needs:

1)How do we use information we have about a child to meet their individual needs?

I'm just having trouble wording the answer.

2) List 3 resources that may be used to assist you in the development and programming of Aboriginal children:

I'm not exactly sure as to what kind of resources they are referring to ??

Thankyou!!

Resources are things you would use to develop a programme for Aboriginal Children.

For instance if I was going to resource a menu for young children I would look up the centres nutritional policy, find a guide for nutrition for young children (Books, websites, library etc) I would look at their developmental needs of children that ages etc.

Some resources may be dreamtime books, websites on Aboriginal lesson plans/programming, craft items that relate to Aboriginal art, things like that.

For the first question, we use what we know about a child, for instance if we know they like trucks, we can respond to this need by providing trucks in the sandpit play and use this as a way of enhancing & extending their learning... ie: then ask them how they could build a road for their truck to travel on. Also, the information we have about a child can be vital ie: if there is an allergy to eggwhites, you would ensure their lunches do not contain this etc..

Hope this helps, if you put your own answers in we can assist you more by telling you if you are on the right track.
