Jelena the team leader, heard Sandra, a relatively new unqualified worker, making the following statements over a period of time:
"It's a shame Belinda can't talk properly"
"Corey's a real boy, isn't he?"
"Who'd have thought we would have a little genius in our midst" (referring to Kathy)
"Isn't it a shame that Robert is stuck in that wheelchair - poor little love"
"Bills a bit of a sissy, isn't he?"
Outline how Jelena could explain to Sandra all of the reasons why her comments are not appropriate

I believe that her comments about the children are very stereotypical

Re: CHCIC301D - need help
Can you elaborate more for each comment. It says you need to provide all the reasons which means there is more than 1 reason.
Think if you were a parent & heard these comments how would you react & why?

Re: CHCIC301D - need help
I know I need to provide more than one reason for each of the comments I was just asking what people think some of the reasons could be

Ok i am just trying to get you to get to the answers yourself but I will help you with the one
Calling a child a "sissy" is labelling a child and it is using terms that are not acceptable in childcare, we don't call children such things. It is wrong and degrading.

This is what I've got
Sandra's comments are inappropriate because she has labelled the children according to her expectations of what the children should or shouldn't do based on their abilities, culture and gender
The question is how they could impact negatively on the self-esteem of the children concerned

If you heard someone say you weren't very bright how would this impact on your self esteem? it is no different for a child.
