CHCCN302A Provide care for children

Hi everyone i am currently studing this book and am stuck on a few questions if anyone could help me.

5.How could you involve children in food preparation and procurement (purchase or collection)?

6.As a carer, what can you do to support children who are at risk of being overweight or obese?

9.Use an inside play area to answer the following questions?

a.What do you see that tells you the age range of the children using this room?

b.What do you see that tells you there are limits in the room?

c.What do you see that tells you the children can try things or do things themselves?

10.Identify a task that a pre-schooler may need help with? How can you communicate with the child respectively to assist them in completing this task?

Any help at all with these questions would be appreciated thanks so mauch for your help :) even if there are previous questions like this a like to that question would help as well.

5. To get a child involve in food preparation at a young age could be helping stir ingredients when they are cooking, cutting cookies with a cookie cutter, hand mix ingredients, measure and pour some ingredients.

6. talk to the parents that you are concerned about the chil and give some options for eating healthy.

10. flushing the toilet and washing hands

Hi - for Q5. you covered preparation well - for procurement you could enjoy an excursion to the shops and have the children identify and lead you to the fruit/vegies you need. Pr start in the kitchen and ask them where you should look for the milk (ie fridge) etc. Could also be something simple - like carrying the grocery bag from car/pram into the house or emptying the groceries out of the bag onto the bench etc. Ask them to tell you what it is they're taking out and where they think it should be stored. Endless everyday things are a learning experience for little people.

Q6.Talking to parents can be tricky and may not necessarily be perceived as "supporting the child". Talking directly to children and encouraging them to try new (better option) food choices is not so tricky. Try a simple "cooking" activity and get them involved in preparing a healthy snack - then you have something to tell the parents about when they collect eg."We made fruit kebabs today and Jane really enjoyed eating banana pieces off the skewer and she tried dipping them in yoghurt" - if parents find out their children are enjoying eating healthy foods - may be more inclined to pack them. Also - engage "at risk" children in regular (routine) exercises and during transitions - frequently ask them for "help" getting things that involve walking - children are more inclined to move if they think they are helping or being responsible. Also - find out their interests and motivate them by weaving their interests into suitable activities that involve movement / healthy eating etc.

9. Try selecting a picture out of a magazine or a photo that illustrates a children's inside play area. You should be able to give specific answers then.

10. How about tying a shoelace - tell them the story - demonstrate - get them to master step 1 - celebrate -then master step 2 - celebrate etc. Use encouraging words, high fives, sticker rewards then encourage practice. When they've "got it" award a certificate for them to take home to put on the fridge.
