March 18th, is Global Recycling Day. It is a recycling initiative that encourages us to look at our trash in a new light and encourages us to use recycled materials in different ways. The following provides free Printables and Activities that will enable you to celebrate Global Recycling Day at your service and activities that can be implemented into the curriculum for children.
About Global Recycling Day
In order to recognise and celebrate the role recycling plays in protecting our planet's future and its priceless primary resources, Global Recycling Day was established in 2018. It is a day when everyone should unite and put the earth first.
According to the World Recycling Foundation, there are two goals for Global Recycling Day:
1. To convey to world leaders the urgent need for a unified, coordinated strategy for recycling and the fact that it is simply too vital to not be a global problem.
2. To urge people to view the products they come into contact with as resources rather than waste; unless this occurs, we will never give recycled goods the genuine value and repurposing they merit.

Garbage Truck Counting - Garbage Truck Counting is a simple counting activity for children to match the correct number of garbage bags into the garbage truck.
Reduce Reuse Recycle Information Posters - The Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Information Posters are a good reminder for Educators and Children on what items are to be reduced, reused and recycled.
Recycle Bin Colour Matching - Recycling Bin Colour Matching enables children to recognise and match colours by matching the correct colour emblem to the coloured recycling bin.
Recycle, Reuse and Repurpose Parent Poster - The Recycle, Reuse and Repurpose Parent Poster details what Parents can donate from their homes. This is great to display on the Parent Board to inform Parents.

Templates For Children
Our Sustainable Monthly Plan - Our Sustainable Monthly Plan is for services to record the sustainable practices that occurred within the month. This is great for services to keep track of the different types of sustainability practices and what needs to be improved or what is being done well.
Sustainability QIP - The Sustainability QIP template enables services to see what needs to be improved in regard to sustainable practices within the service. Issues that need to improve, can be jotted down within the Sustainability QIP and followed up upon to ensure that the service is implementing sustainable measures in the service. This is a great way to keep track of what the centre is doing in terms of sustainable practices and how they plan to change or modify current practices to ensure it meets sustainable guidelines.
Sustainability Checklists In Childcare - Sustainability in early childhood education is an important part of keeping a natural and clean environment and should be incorporated into each and every service setting.
