More on casual break allowances

Post by Leeny76 » Wed Apr 10, 2019 5:22 pm

Hi,

I just worked my first casual shift. I worked 9am - 3pm (6hrs) with one ten minute break. Is this an adequate break for this shift? I just about gave myself indigestion scarfing down my lunch in 10 minutes. If that’s what’s normal, fine. I just won’t accept any more 6 hour shifts unless they are outside lunch time, like an early shift 6-12 at least I can eat lunch when I’m finished.

Thanks.

According to the Children's Services Award 2010, an employee working in excess of 5 hours is entitled to an uninterrupted meal break of at least 30 minutes, no more than 1 hour (unpaid) plus a 10 minute rest break (paid).
