Students On Placement Covering Lunch Breaks

Post by erinmorris » Tue Jul 19, 2016 12:54 pm

Hi
Just a quick question i currently have a student that is doing some placement in my room and is now being used as lunch cover for the center? Just wondering if this is ok as I feel that we are taking advantage of her during her placement?

Thank you

No, I don't think it is OK... A student is not part of the ratio as they are a student... They are at the centre to gain hands on experiences and to complete their assessment tasks. Unless they are employed, have a qualification, get wages, then they can be part of the ratio but not until then...
