Practical Placement While Working

Post by Hgul » Sat Nov 12, 2016 11:10 pm

I have started my Diploma in childcare since last week, now from next year I want to start practical placement, question is: Can I apply for paid job? and during interview I can ask for the supervisor/director to help me complete my placement?
Or legally it's not allowed. I am interested in casual or part-time work.
Please reply.

It is allowed if your course provider and your work both agree to it and usually it is possible! As a casual it probably wont work because when doing practical placement you need to complete tasks and get a supervisor to sign your forms as evidence so with work it has to be consistent and as a casual you don't know when you're working etc.

It's probably best to get a permanent full time/part time job rather than a casual...

You need to observe a child who gets dropped off at the centre and write what happens. Write exactly what you see... what the parent does, what they do, how they say goodbye, etc.

Hi Lorina,
Do you know if there is a uni that allows you to complete your practical experience at your current place of work. Am currently undertaking a Bch Ed Early Ch (Birth to Five) at ACU however requires 80 days prac and unable to complete any of that at place of employment due to conflict of interest.
