b.Infants and toddlers (Note: If your service does not provide care for under 2s please outline recommended strategies)
c.Preschoolers
What is your answer so far or What have you done so far as an attempt to solve this question?
Answer a:
I am not sure, what I can think of is asking their parents
Answer b:
It has been long established that the nutritional needs of infants can be provided solely by breast milk or formula therefore it is important for the childhood service to support continued breastfeeding for an infant in child care.
As for toddlers, their food intake varies from day to day depending on their energy levels. Parental expectations, family eating habits and genetic make-up all play a role in the appetite and eating patterns of toddlers.
Therefore to determine the food and dietary requirements and/or preferences of infants and toddlers, the carer should communicate with their parents to find out.
Answer c :
Preschoolers have developed specific food preferences, often they are too busy to eat and prefer to snack on the run. Therefore to determine the food and dietary requirements and/or preferences of pre-schoolers, the carer has to ensure that meal times become a time for slowing down, relaxing and enjoying social interaction. When they relax and enjoy their eating, it is easy to find out.
