I have looked at a lot of different cultures and celebrations on the internet, I have come across what some do such as : don't eat food that has veins blood and flesh. I am just so confused I have spoken to a few gfs who have given me what they do but not so much with the food side of things.. ( they are greek and swiss) On the national day in switerland its just a bbq where they throw sausages on a bbq. iam Australian so to me that is some thing MY culture does. plus I have no idea how I would explain a religion side of things as iam not aware of any

Maybe choose a hindu or muslim festival as it centres around religion & food (eg hindus do not eat beef, a lot are strict vegetarians, muslims do not eat pork or any pig products, strict muslims will only eat halal meat)
You should be able to get lots of info about both cultures from the internet.
Food is big in both cultures and they have special dishes for occasions (weddings etc) so I am sure you will get a lot of info
Diwali is a big festival in India and Eid is a big thing in muslim countries

Re: CHCCN303A - Role Of Food In Cultural Celebrations
so this I defs have to do something with religion, I didn't think I was allowed to teach children about other religions in school as not all parents believe in them or agree with them. I was confused with how to tell children about why they fast (edi fesstivil). I have thought about doing The Maori hangi.
Re: CHCCN303A - Role Of Food In Cultural Celebrations
You will find that must cultures tie up with religion... I do believe that we should talk to children about religion and different beliefs and cultures as this is the only way they are going to understand it. As long as we are not forcing a particular religion on a child, we should be open and allow children to identify how we re all different and our beliefs our different. This is what makes us acceptable to a multicultural society.
