CHCIC501A - Assessing The Centre In Quality Area 2

Post by sarah-kitty » Mon Aug 27, 2012 3:03 pm

Hey,

I have to asses my centre in the national Quality Standard, I am doing 2.2. healthy eating and physical activity. I need to get a routine outline and a lesson plan, but the centre I am doing my work experience at arent really comfortable giving me them.. I dont think they really have one that they fully use.

I was wondering would someone please give me an outline of these two things. Anything would help!

Thank you so much :D

Firstly if you are doing work experience wherever you are working should provide you and help you with things. I would speak to the Director if you have difficulty in getting simple things.
I cannot understand why they do not have a routine that they fully use? How do they know what they do at what time during the course of the day? or do they just wing it each day ? if they do thats worrying! however a simple observation of the day should give you an idea of their routine. e.g.
7-8 outside play
8 group time
8:30 morning tea
9 music
etc

What kind of lesson plan do you need? I assume it needs to cover how to teach children about healthy eating and physical activity. You should be able to plan a lesson to cover these two things easily. You will need to keep in mind what age group it is for as for younger children you will have to keep things simple and maybe more visual and shorter time-wise.

Hope this helps.

If you want to make a lesson plan and post it here I would be happy to read it and see if you need to add anything more etc

Hope this helps

hey:)

so does this daily routine sound okay?
Daily Routine- pre-kindy room

6:30 am : Arrive set up inside classroom and playground, put sign in book on table.
7:00 am: great parents and help children with breakfast.
7:30 am: toilet/ nappy change, free play outside
9:00 am: toilet/ nappy change, Morning Tea
10:00 am: free play, painting
11:30 am: toilet/ nappy change, Lunch, prepare sleeping bags for sleep time.
12:00 pm: Sleep time/ rest
2:30pm -3:00pm: Wake up, toilet/ nappy change, afternoon tea
3:30pm :sun block, outside play
4:30pm-5:00pm : toilet/ nappy change, come inside, dinner ( if children have any) and inside play till parents come
5:30pm: staff pack away outside, and clean up.
6:00pm: make sure that inside is clean and tidy, ready for the next day
6:30 pm sign out, make sure that all the lights are turned off. make sure all the doors are locked.

Also with a lesson plan is this okay? i googled and found a few different ones and put them together..

Physical Activity- Starting and Stopping 3-5 year olds
What you will need:
 1 spot marker per child.
 4 cones for boundaries.
Instructions:
 scatter spot markers within the area.
 talk to the children about personal space.
 send children to stand on their spot markers.
Objective:
The objective of this physical activity is to get children moving and running around, listening, observing colours, and playing together.
Activity:
first put the spots around the play area for the children, then make them stand on a colour, get them to walk around their spot and when you say "FREEZE!" they must stop and freeze like a statue
Play Time!:
Starting and Stopping on Cue
 When you hear, “Go!” (or music starts) walk around your spot. (Start with verbal cues, then introduce music cues.)
 When you hear, “Freeze,” (or music stops) show that you can stop quickly and freeze like a statue.

Warm down:
 Ask the children if they can stretch and touch the sky, our front, to the side, and down.
 When you hear the colour of your spot bring it to the teacher.

Thank you so much!
